JAKARTA — The Indonesian National Police (Polri) has questioned the Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Firli Bahuri. He was questioned regarding a meeting with the former Minister of Agriculture, Syarul Yasin Limpo, in connection with a case of alleged extortion.
During the questioning, it was revealed that Firli had indeed met with Syahrul at the Badminton Court of GOR Tangki Sawah Besar, West Jakarta, in March 2022.
“(Firli Bahuri) confirmed the meeting,” said the Director of Special Criminal Investigation (Dirreskrimsus) of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Ade Safri Simanjuntak, at Bareskrim Polri, South Jakarta.
However, Ade did not disclose whether there was any money exchanged during the meeting. He also did not directly address the issue of the alleged extortion amounting to Rp1 billion.
The case of alleged extortion by the KPK’s leadership has progressed to the investigation stage following a case review on October 6th. Polda Metro Jaya has issued an order to conduct investigations to gather evidence for determining suspects.
