JAKARTA (SurabayaPostNews) — Dede Suryaman, a judge of the West Jakarta District Court (PN), faced a trial conducted by the Judicial Honor Council (MKH) overseen by the Supreme Court and the Judicial Commission.

In this trial, Dede was the respondent in regards to allegations of accepting bribes to mitigate the sentencing in a corruption case involving the Brawijaya Kediri bridge. Dede provided an account of the chronology when he was approached by a lawyer named Yuda, stating that Ad Hoc Judge Kusdarwanto met with the defendant’s family in this case along with two prosecutors.

“Yuda conveyed that he had documents about the meeting, as well as witnesses who saw it,” Dede stated in the Supreme Court Session Room, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday, August 9, 2023.

After receiving this report, Dede claimed to have directly confronted Kusdarwanto about the information from Yuda.

“It turns out he confirmed that he went to Kediri to meet the family (of the defendant) and made requests to him,” he said.

Subsequently, Dede became aware of a letter of complaint against Judge Kusdarwanto. This letter led Dede to believe Yuda’s report.

“Yuda had documents from the previous meeting, so I was afraid that if the documents were returned or reported, the council would face the consequences,” he added.

Dede admitted to receiving Rp 300 million from Yuda. This amount was then divided between Ad Hoc Judge Emma Ellyani and Kusdarwanto, each receiving Rp 100 million. Dede then gave Rp 30 million from his portion to Deputy Clerk Hamdan.

Following this, Dede mentioned heated debates among other members of the judicial council regarding the verdict for the corruption case of the Brawijaya Kediri bridge. Concerning his meeting with Yuda as a party involved as a lawyer and the receipt of Rp 300 million, Dede expressed regret.

“I truly regret that in seeking justice, I’ve crossed the established boundaries,” Dede concluded.

For reference, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has designated three individuals as suspects in a case related to alleged bribery concerning the handling of a case currently in progress at the Surabaya District Court (PN) in East Java.

These three suspects are non-active judge of the Surabaya District Court Itong Isnaini Hidayat (IIH), Deputy Clerk of the Surabaya District Court Hamdan (HD), and Lawyer or Representative of PT Soyu Giri Primedika (PT SGP) Hendro Kasiono (HK).
